• Travel Info

Puglia is located in the southern peninsula of Italy, and is commonly referred to as the “heel of Italy’s boot.”

There are many ways to get to Puglia including by train, car and through two major airports: Bari and Brindisi, which have flights connecting to nearly every major city in Europe and the UK.

Bari is about a 2-hour drive & Brindisi is about 45 minutes drive to our wedding venue, Masseria Lilei.

However, if you are joining us in Matera on Thursday, Matera is in the northern part of Puglia, making it closer to Bari or even Naples.

    Getting Around

There are a lot of cute towns and mini adventures throughout the region, and if you'd like to explore things beyond our wedding events, you really do need a car. Both local airports are serviced by major car rental companies (e.g. RentalCars, Herts, Sixt, AVIS*).

However, there are trains from Rome, Bari and Brindisi to Lecce's city center and we will have select pickup and drop-off spots locations in Lecce city center and locations along the way to get to our wedding events on Friday and Satuday.

    Trains from Rome/Bari/Brindisi to Lecce

Rome: A high-speed train from Rome Termini to Lecce | ~5.5 hours
Bari: Trains from Bari Centrale to Lecce | ~1.5 hours
Brindisi: A direct train to Lecce | ~20 minutes

Please be sure to confirm train times based on your specific arrival day & time

Please note that taxis are rare and expensive! The best and most affordable way to get around Puglia is by driving. If you prefer to use a taxi service, we recommend pre-booking -- our wedding planner can help coordinate this for you.

*We have heard it's best to avoid rental cars from Noleggiare.

  • Where to Stay

A few ideas to get you going

For September 26-28 we highly recommend staying in Lecce's historic city center - it is a beautiful town with great bars, cafes and restaurants. Lecce is the closest city to our venue. If you prefer a larger space for a group, we recommend looking for accomodations like Masserias or small B&Bs outside of the city.

If you are joining us on Thursday, September 25, in Matera, please note it is 2 hours from our wedding venue and we will stay the night in the Matera area on Thursday. We'll be staying here!

    Airbnb, Masserias & Other Stays

There are countless places to stay in the surrounding area and we highly recommend you check AirBnB, VRBO, Booking.com, Hotels.com or Google maps for the best place for your budget and stay expectations.

For a true Apulian experience, consider staying at a local Masseria. A masseria is a fortified farmhouse on an estate built around the 16th century.
